little friends
POSTED IN Travels 25.06.2008
While shooting the vicinity of Lónskot in Skagafjörður, N-Iceland, we ran into this little fellow. We also ran into his sibling, while they were having their afternoon nap, but the bro/sis did make a run for it.
So, what do you think, is this one the brave of the pair or was he completely paralyzed with the shock of seeing someone so close to home?
We prefer to think he was the braver individual, since the nesting place was at the edge of a golf course, that gets cut very often and the presence of humans and machinery would be a daily event.
The other one might then be a…. erm…chicken…Or simply clever.
In seriousness though, that little chick gave us a precious couple of seconds while we did lift him out of the fresh cut grass on the tee, carrying him over to the nest and hoping quietly his sibling and mother would arrive soon to ensure safety.
Since I am totally into quotes and poetry, here are the wonderful words of Emily Dickinson:
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
and never stops at all.
