Playing the Harmony
POSTED IN Travels 21.08.2008
Just recently me and Helga + the peps almost next door, Eva & Kjartan went to Siglufjörður for the <”Herring Era Adventure”, on the way home had a wee stop at the Church in Kvíabekkur, where Helga’s great grand father is buried.
The Church is probably has the funniest colours in the country, and is really all over a really amusing piece of architecture. Helga sat down at the old music aparatus in the church and played us the small melody of “Vísur Vatnsenda Rósu”
After the tune was played, I actually smiled like this.
This photo of you is hillarious!
That’s a really beautiful tune. I love Ragnheiður Gröndal’s version of it, and as well Björk’s version on the CD “Songs from the cold seas” is very memorable. Sort of the soundtrack to Iceland, for me.
fjall myndarlegur frændi…
þið komið manni endalaust á óvart…
Funny colours… I would say magical! That totally explains the graceful smile Völ! Good stuff guys, it is lovely browsing through your galleries, it feels homy and familiar. Powerful work. K
